Building is a major part of Len's Island. Throughout the game you will need to create houses for yourself as well as the residents of Bridgewater You are free to build on every island and in the cave network. There are four styles, you can use for your buildings. There is 'Wood', 'Stone', 'Ornate' and 'Pagoda'.

Most structures require a foundation, such as walls, doors, windows, archways, stairs, railings etc.

Basics with Keyboard and Mouse[]

To enter building mode, press [F]. You can also access it by pressing [TAB] to enter your inventory and clicking on the wooden hammer icon.

  • The camera is unlocked in building mode
  • [WASD] rotates the camera and the mouse wheel controls the zoom
  • [ALT] + the mouse wheel adjusts foundation height
  • Press [R] to rotate an object
  • Press [E] or [Q] to adjust structure visibility
  • Press [G] to enter screenshot mode
  • Click on an object to change the material or recycle the resources

In order to increase the variety of structures you can build, you will need a workbench. As you upgrade the workbench, more blueprints become available. Building machines is important for refining resources. You will need at least one 'Fireplace', a 'Smelter' and a 'Refinery'. These will produce the materials you need to craft better tools and weapons.

Later in the game, if you upgrade your 'Workbench', you get the 'Alchemy Table' to build.

  • Tip: You can recycle materials from ruins as an easy way to gather resources

Materials[]

Foundation styles

There are four different building styles that each require different resources:

Wood and stone are self explanatory. Ornate requires sandstone and pagoda requires dark wood. The materials used are cosmetic only.

Decorations[]

There are a variety of decorations you can create for your house. You start off with the ability to create basic furniture but can purchase new blueprints from the different NPCs in town. While they do not offer any mechanical benefit, they can go a long way to making your house a home.
