What is a Harvest Moon?[]
A Harvest Moon is a world event that happens during nighttime every 5 in-game days (unless customized in the World Settings). Harvest Moon events switch up the regular nighttime activities and adds intensive fortifying gameplay to the Len's Island experience. You will know when a Harvest Moon is going to happen by checking the sun dial located on the bottom left of your screen - if there is a red night coming up (like the picture below), this means a Harvest Moon will happen that night.
Note: If you want to skip a Harvest Moon event, just sleep in a bed to skip the night. Alternatively you can turn off all Harvest Moons or lower the amount of enemies that spawn by changing it in the World Settings menu. Or if you enjoy the combat, both of these options can be increased to become very hardcore!
Harvest Moon Combat[]
As the moon lights up the sky, hoards of Voidling enemies will take over the land around you. They will raid your farms, homes, outposts, and try to attack you in waves. As you progress throughout the game and conquer the dungeons, Harvest Moons will become much more difficult. The Voidlings that spawn during Harvest Moons will become more advanced enemies that are found in the dungeons such as Lightning Fish, Armored Voids, Void Rats and more. These enemies will attack the you and your buildings in waves until the sun rises so make sure to defend yourself.
How to Defend from a Harvest Moon[]
Various defense weapons can be built to protect yourself and your buildings from being attacked by enemy Voidlings. Before being able to build these weapons, they must be unlocked at a Workbench.
Defense Weapons List:[]
- Ballista Tower
- Swivel Cannon
- Landmines
- Lightstone Ward
- Small and Large Tesla Towers
- Ballista Bow
- Palisade Wall
Note: The Ballista Tower, Ballista Bow, Small Tesla Tower and Large Tesla Tower all need to be loaded with ammunition. You can do this by clicking on them and adding Iron Shards to the Ballista Towers/Bows or Lightstone Dust to the Tesla Towers.
Benefits of a Harvest Moon[]
Crop Growth[]
Harvest Moons are a great way to increase produce from Farming as when a Harvest Moon event occurs, crops grow 4x the average speed. This will be indicated as the crops will have a special blue flickering effect to show this new growth. So if you're an avid farmer or just need a specific resource like Cotton quickly and in a large amount, you should plant as many as possible before a Harvest Moon occurs, then stay awake to protect your crops while they grow in order to harvest them a lot quicker.
Outposts[]
During a Harvest Moon, production of resources at Outposts is boosted up to 7-10 times the average speed. This means it Outposts are a great way to gain Resources in Len's Island, particularly during a Harvest Moon. However, players will only recieve this boost in Outpost production if the player stays awake throughout the event as players that sleep during a Harvest Moon will skip all benefits of the event entirely.
If an Outpost is purchased by a player, it may be raided by Voidlings during a Harvest Moon. If this happens the player will recieve a notification on screen that Outpost is being attacked and the Outposts health bar will show at the top of the screen. As Voidlings come in waves and swarm the area, the Outpost will be damaged by these enemies and eventually defeated. All Outposts will require protection from these enemy attacks so the Outpost will continue to be operational during the Harvest Moon to maximise resource production. Examples of defensive techniques include a warp portal that allows you to reach the Outpost quickly when its attacked, building pallisade walls to block the enemies, and adding defence weapons such as Ballista Towers and Tesla Towers to automatically kill the enemies while you are away, but remember these weapons require ammunition.
Voidling Resources[]
Harvest Moons also give players the opportunity to harvest Dark Essense and Iron Shards that drop after killing Voidlings.
Skipping a Harvest Moon[]
Remember that if you want to skip a Harvest Moon event, just sleep in a bed to skip the night. Alternatively you can turn off all Harvest Moons or lower the amount of enemies during an event in the World Settings menu. Or if you enjoy the combat both of these options can be increased to become very hardcore.
